Cross Talk - UK Tour May 2008
New Noise's latest project Cross Talk, brings together some of the best known performers from the world of new music, to perform seminal works by three of the most influential composers of the late 20th Century, alongside new music from some of the most exciting young composers working today.
In the first half Xenakis' powerful, West African tinged slice of drumming Ohko and Steve Reich's minimalist classic Four Organs surround Columbian composer, Pedro Gómez Egaña's quiet and edgy Clark Nova; which mixes music boxes, kitchen bowls, water and breathy oboe noise with lo-fi electronics.
The second half opens with the late Stockhausen's rarely performed early work Kreuzspiel, followed by the premiere of specially commissioned works from Edinburgh based sound artist Martin Parker, and the artistic director of Dublin's Crash Ensemble, Donnacha Dennehy.
New Recordings
The second album is on the way and will include recently commissioned works by Howard Skempton, Dobrinka Tabakova and Adrian Lee. Iannis Xenakis's masterpiece Dmaathen has also been recorded, please check back for Summer 2008 release dates.
